Panel: The Business of Acting

Dana Verde (Director/Writer/Producer) has been a prolific filmmaker for the past 11 years,
writing and directing six short narrative films; The Last Romantics, Lock & Key, In Black & White,
After, Lethal Fate, and Volte-Face, and two feature-length films; Grand Gesture which was
nominated Best Feature at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival by HBO and
The Perfect Match which screened in 925 theaters nationally and debuted #6 in the US box
Office. Her short documentary film The House She Left Behind screened internationally
winning best director and best documentary short at the Catskill International Film Festival, best
documentary at the Paris International Short Film Festival, and was nominated best
documentary short at Tokyo Film Festival, Roma Short Film Festival, and Seoul International
Short film Festival.
Dana’s career in entertainment also includes producing the feature French drama Moments in a
Quiet City directed by Nigerian filmmaker Tony Ukpo and developing TV projects for
Nickelodeon, Freeform, and Kronicle Media.
